What should I pay attention to when selecting a servo motor

Torque demand calculation: Accurately calculate the required torque based on factors such as the moment of inertia, motion speed, acceleration and external forces of the load. The motor rated torque should be greater than the load torque, and the peak torque requirements during startup and acceleration are considered. Generally, a torque margin of 20%-50% is reserved to ensure that the motor can drive the load stably and avoid overload and blockage. Speed matching: According to the equipment operating speed requirements, select a servo motor whose rated speed can meet and within a reasonable range. Pay attention to the maximum speed limit of the motor to avoid exceeding its limit speed during operation, which will affect the motor performance and life. At the same time, the torque output characteristics of the motor at different speeds should be considered to ensure that the torque within the working speed range meets the load requirements. Inertial moment matching: Try to match the motor rotor inertia with the load inertia. Generally, the ratio of the load inertia to the motor rotor inertia is controlled within 3-5 times. If the load inertia is too large, the motor response will slow down and the positioning accuracy will be reduced; if the inertia is too small, the motor may run unstable and oscillate. Accuracy and control requirements: For applications with high requirements for position accuracy and speed control accuracy, such as precision machining, automated assembly, etc., select servo motors with high resolution encoders (such as 23-bit and above) to achieve more accurate position and speed control. At the same time, considering the motor response time, a motor with a fast response speed can better follow the changes in the control signal, meeting the application needs of fast start and stop and frequent acceleration and deceleration. Protection level and environmental adaptability: If used in harsh environments, such as dusty, humid, corrosive gases, etc., choose a servo motor with corresponding protection level (such as IP54, IP65, etc.) to ensure that the motor is not affected by environmental factors and ensure long-term and stable operation. Recommended by well-known brands: Panasonic: servo motor products have excellent performance, high control accuracy, and are widely used in automation equipment. Mitsubishi: Deep technology in the field of motors, strong reliability of servo motors, and suitable for a variety of industrial scenarios. Yaskawa: It is known for its high-performance servo drive technology, with good torque characteristics and fast response speed.
